A Dog Like You is a community for pet lovers! We are a free site for sharing dog & cat photos and dog & cat stories or articles.

There is never any charge for anything at A Dog Like You. The site is solely for the enjoyment of those who love dogs & cats.

Registation is not required to browse the site. You can view the photo galleries and read member stories without registering.

You should register to become a member of our pet lovers' community! Once you register, you can upload photos of your own, contribute your thoughts or stories about dogs & cats and give and receive comments on photos and stories.

Email verification is necessary to ensure the quality and security of our site.

You can upload images featuring dogs and/or cats with the following file extensions: .jpg, .jpeg, .gif and .png. Your image files must be 5 MB or less, and the actual pixel size must not exceed 3872 pixels x 2592 pixels. In most cases, photos right from your camera will satisfy these size guidelines.

Our approval process takes less than 24 hours. Usually, you’ll see your photo in the gallery within an hour or two.

Member Stories are any writings from our members about dogs and/or cats. We call them stories, but they can be articles or even just short descriptions of things your dog does or time you spend with your pet. You don’t have to be a great author, just share your thoughts and experiences! For ideas of what to write, see the Tell Your Story page.

If you are logged in, click the Tell Your Story link. From there, click the link to Submit a Story. You can type or cut and paste your story into the form on the submit page, or you can click the link for Upload Story Files and submit a document. File extensions accepted for documents: .doc or .docx (MS Word), .odt (Open Office Writer), .txt or .rtf (text file formats).

For story photos, use the same Upload page as for dog and cat photos submitted for the gallery and select Story Photo from the drop down select box. The other fields can be left blank.

Click the My Account link on the top navigation bar. Then, click the top link to Add or Modify your profile. If you are modifying, the original text will appear for you to edit. For profile photos, visit the Upload page and upload your photo with ’Profile’ in the description field.

Click the My Account link on the top navigation bar. Then, click the link for Change Your Password. Enter your new password, then confirm it by entering it again and click the Change Password button.

Click the Forgot Password link on the login page. We will send you a new password at the email address you used to register. After you log in with the new passowrd, you can change the password on the My Account page.

Click the My Account link on the top navigation bar. Then, click the link for Update Your Account. You can change your email address and location information. NOTE: If you change your email address, you be requested to verify the new address when you log in again.

On the Manage My Photos page, you can view all of your photos currently online. You can alter the description, pet name or breed of your photo, or delete the photo.

You cannot change your username yourself, but if you want to change it, we can do it for you. Just send us an email at fido@adoglikeyou.com and we’ll make the change.

A Member Gallery is a photo gallery of all your photos, along with your profile information. It has all the features of the site photo galleries, and it’s yours to personalize and share with friends and family.

You only have a gallery when you have photos online on our site, so upload a photo or two to get your own gallery!

• You must log in to change the background.
• After you log in, you will see the ’Customize your Gallery’ link above the gallery heading.
• Click the link to open the selection of backgrounds.
• Click the radio button next to the background swatch to view the background in your gallery.
• When you find one you like, click the ’Save’ button to Save it.
• If you change your mind, simply make a new choice and Save again.

Woofs of Wisdom is a mini–blog where a gallery owner can enter information, comments, links, stories, etc. for the gallery viewers. Other members can also respond with comments of their own. As with comments in the Dog and Cat Galleries, you must be logged in to leave a post in the Woofs of Wisdom section.

• When you log in, there will be a link in the upper navigation section. Below the greeting that says "Hello, (username)", you will see a link that says "Visit Your Own Gallery" Click on that link to go directly to your gallery.
• On the home page, there is a section that says, "Looking for your gallery?" Enter your username in the form field and click the ’Go’button.

Sure, there are a few ways.

• If you know the username, enter it in the form field on the home page to bring up the gallery for that username.
• If you see a photo you like in one of the site galleries, there is a link below the photo credit to take you to that member’s gallery.
• From any member gallery (including your own), there are ’Next’ and ’Previous’ arrows in the gallery heading at the top left and right corners. With these, you can page through all member galleries in alphabetical order by username.
